May 5th will be round 2 of the World Endurance Championship at Spa Francorchamps.

Pratt & Miller customer team Larbre Competition is a full season entry with two 2011 spec Corvette C6.Rs for the GTE-Am class.

The official video stream is available on the official website, only viewable for people outside the USA unfortunately.

Corvette Motorsport

As we posted earlier, Tommy Milner, Jan Magnussen, and Richard Westbrook will be racing in the Nurburgring 24hr. This weekend the guys participated in the VLN race for preparation for the 24hr next month. Richard Westbrook had duties at Homestead for the Grand-Am round with the Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP, so Team Callaway Competition driver Daniel Keilwitz took his place.

The guys qualified P3, stayed in the top 10 until the 3hr mark, and ended up finishing 17th. Here are the final results.

News has broken that Tommy Milner, Jan Magnussen, and Richard Westbrook will pilot a GT3 Z06-R at the Nurburgring 24hr this year. The guys are headed to VLN 3 this weekend for preparation.

Tommy Milner has ran a BMW Z3 the last couple of years at the Green Hell, and Richard Westbrook has ran in a Porsche. This will be Jan's first appearance in the 24hr race, although he has a few laps under his belt.

The race is scheduled for May 17-20.

Richard Prince

Long Beach is the shortest race of year at only 2hrs long, but it was arguably more eventful then the 12hrs of Sebring. The weekend started off on Friday with very minimal scheduled track time for the ALMS cars due to the combined weekend with IRL, and a few others. Adding to the difficulty was a large rain storm that canceled qualifying. The grid was then set by championship points, so the Vettes started P2 & P3.

This was Antonio Garcia's first time at the Long Beach circuit, so with only a few wet laps under his belt he had to learn the track during the race. In the opening laps Garcia got caught up in an accident. Luckily even with the damage, Garcia and Magnussen managed to pilot the #3 C6.R to a 4th place finish.

The #4 car managed to escape the pile up in the opening laps and Tommy Milner put of a clinic dicing back and forth with BMW. After he handed the car over to Oliver Gavin the #4 pulled out a good lead, managed the tires, and pulled out a victory. Check out the hardware.

It was a great race and a great win for Corvette Racing. I truly believe this year will be a battle between Corvette Racing and BMW. That is as long as IMSA does not step in and add all sorts of adjustments to CR.

The 2012 CR liveries (created by GM Design) are on track at the Sebring Winter Test and after more than a few years Jake has returned to the side panels of the mighty C6.R. (Are those crossed flag eyes reflective? We'll see when Sebring goes dark)

Love the new livery. The "barbed wire" wasn't my thing. Only thing that would make it better is if this livery was on the DP Corvettes. Maybe next year...

No I believe the Jake livery needs to stay with the C6R Corvette racing team. after all it it was developed in LeMans for Corvette racing. the Daytona prototypes are not true Corvettes and therefore should not be running Jake.

I like that Jake's back and on his proper place on the car. I just don't like the tribal tattoo design behind Jake. It looks contrived.

Why not try having the fans come up with the livery for once?

Love the new livery for 2012 - a continued evolution from 2009s GT version. Jake is back for what may be the C6.R's swan song, as we also have the 60th Anniversary Edition logo on the front fenders. GM Design finally heard the voice of Corvette Nation and badboyvettes - and even better godug won't be in hot water for this one!

In the end, whatever we think about the new livery, the only thing that really and truly matters is crossing the finish first in GT.

Over on corvetteracing.com, the guys are saying some damn good and encouraging news about their cars' setups. They sound about as ready as they can be; they just want to go racing NOW.

I can't wait. I just cannot wait, BBV.

Well the race at Belle Isle is June 1st & 2nd and the 24 Hours of LeMans in June 16th & 17th. No way would they have time to race in Detroit and then get ready for LeMans.

Anyway, has anyone ever used the scoring sheet page on ALMS' official site before? It was extremely useful because it updates continuously and automatically every sixty seconds; has a filter where you could follow on the racing class(-es) you want to follow; and was a way to follow the races if you couldn't get any kind of broadcast - live or otherwise. It appears that that feature is gone in the ALMS' website re-configuration...unless I'm looking in the wrong places on that site.

If you know what I'm talking about and you can find it, kindly post the link, please? It's a feature I really would like available.

Do you have Comcast cable internet? If so, normally by visiting ESPN3.com on your computer, it will allow you to watch live events without having to log in to the site or "purchase" the additional ESPN packages. That's how I have been doing it and seems to work very well -- the shows are even in HD.

If you don't have Comcast or your internet/cable provider requires you to purchase the ESPN packages, then you would have to do that in order to watch through ESPN3.com. I'm not sure if ALMS.com is free or requires you to have ESPN3 as well, but might be worth a try to see if it will work tomorrow during qualifying.

Justin.tv would only have a live stream provided someone rebroadcasts it who has access to ESPN3.com and the tools and hardware/software for their computer to do it. The chances of finding it on Justin.tv or Ustream.tv are unfortunately slim IMO. :/

ephix - Here in Vegas, it's Cox Communications. I have the Cox Bundle (phone, 'Net, and elevated cable TV package) so getting espn3.com on the PC is a given. Sure the bundle costs a little over $100 a month, but for the manner and frequency in which I use the bundle, it's phenomenal. Truly well worth it.

It's here, gents. Time to put the competition to shame.

BBV, get with the program...a whole week of event and this post is from February...damn...Corvettes 2 and 4 after 12 hours...yes BMW still wins...god bless the ALMS rules folks...I hear next year a Toyota Prius will be allowed to run a carbon fiber tub, paddle shifters and fully independent suspension in an attempt to be the first hybrid to win the GT category...fully supported by the ALMS.

So on the Corvette Racing web page, it states that corvette took second and third in the alms. WEC cars are awarded their own winning order. So this is still a very good way to start off the season!

The Corvette's were turning just as fast of laps as their competition, so I think the playing field is very close to level this year. Both the BMW and Ferrari at the finish had a very light load of fuel left, so that might be why the Vette's couldn't close. Class act by Bruni, BTW...what a tool.

Just returned from Sebring, and I'm more than a little confused. The Vettes were nearly 3 full seconds quicker than last year, and looked great in qualifying and throughout the race. The Ferraris were all very quick, and also the Felbermayr Porsche and the new Aston Martin Vantage, both Eoropean teams not contesting the full ALMS Schedule. The BMW's were a bit back, but in striking distance, and at the start the Ferraris and Vettes pretty much left everybody else in the dust, but at the 9 hour mark who shows up in the top 5 but both BMW's. I'm not sure if they were sandbagging, but what a coincidence. They seemed to be able to pretty much stay with everybody. One troubling observation I did make was on the last 4 rounds of pit stops that required fuel/driver/tire changes, the BMW team was consistently quicker with the stops. 3 times both Vettes came in ahead of both BMWs, but left behind each time, and that shouldn't happen. Races are won and lost on pit lane, and we need to get with the program here so this doesn't happen again. The drivers all drove very clean and quick, so it's up to the pit crews to keep them in front, not make them have to claw their way back up. Very impressed with young Jordan Taylor, at 20 mature beyond his years both in and out of the car, great choice for Team Corvette. I think the updated Vettes have the speed, but the pit crews need to step up and deliver the goods for us to beat the BMWs and Ferraris this year, and the time is now.

TR6speed, I agree about the refueling, but there were at least 2 stops in the last 4 hours where both teams came in under yellow and did tires/fuel, and another with tires/fuel/driver change and the Vettes came in first but left behind. The Vettes are at least as quick if not quicker on any race lap, as they were able to make up the difference on the track, and the lap times support this. I'm thinking if Doug Fehan cracks the whip a bit on the pit guys that will correct the problem, because we shouldn't be losing time on pit lane. In the GT class there are probably 10 cars capable of winning any race, so mistakes can be very costly. The less time we spend on pit lane the more distance we can pull out on the track.

@GS10tk, I think a lot of this has to do with the fueling. The Corvette has the same fuel tank that is in the stock Corvette (at least that is what I have heard), which means in reality two tanks so the fueling is slower. Also Corvette Racing was always the team to beat on the pit stops, well the other top teams have done their homework and have gotten faster. So I guess Doug will have to get on them and see what can be done to step it up a little. I to was a little concerned with the BMW's and were they sand bagging. I really don't think so, but then again with all the complaining from the fans last year about how BMW always qualified on the pole and was able to run away at will they may have decided to lay back in qualifying at Sebring, knowing they still had the performance to run down the lead cars in a 12 hour race.

@jjc5rfan No idea what you're talking about. Larbre competition runs the older Corvette Racing chassis that they bought through Pratt & Miller. They also do not run in the ALMS. Perhaps you are confused because both the Larbre Corvette's and Corvette Racing cars are painted yellow. Also, you can go to Corvette Racing's homepage and see their latest PR posts as well as current standings and past race finishes.

@jjc5rfan not sure what you are referring to. ALMS has no GT1 or GT3. They classes at Sebring for the Corvette's were GTE Pro and GTE Am. Corvette Racing were in the pro class and the Larbre Corvette's were in the Am class. Are you thinking of the GT1 FIA series as well as the GT3 class in Europe?

@jjc5rfa,If I understand you correctly, you want to know where the Corvette's from the FIA GT1 and GT3 classes were, that is an easy answer. Sebring was a combined event with two different series racing in it. The WEC and the ALMS. The GT1 and GT3 cars do not race in either series, therefore they were not there.

Yea, I mean I check this page every day. Theres an update maybe once a month. It would be great if someone could update this site and make it something akin to speedhunters for corvettes only. The BBV movement isnt dead. Jake is everywhere. It seems this site is the only thing thats weak/dead. (Ill still rep Jake on my vette)

The BMW's looked good as always, but I think the Vettes and the Patron Ferrari that finished 3rd were the class in GT. Looking forward, I'd keep an eye on the Aston Martin, they're an experienced team (our old foes from GT1) and the car showed good pace at both Sebring and Long Beach. The new Alex Job Lotus looked pretty good for a first time out too, and that's another good, experienced team, and throw in the SRT Vipers at Laguna Seca and the GT class gets even tougher, so we better keep on improving. All in all, a good day at the track.

Corvette has let the wraps (get it?) off the 2012 livery developed by the GM Design Center at the Sebring test session where they're testing two brand new cars for the 2012 ALMS season.

Here's what we know:
• The ALMS has decided to allow all GT cars the same aerodynamic advantage BMW enjoyed last year meaning Corvette can mount their rear wing higher to achieve more downforce. The added downforce at the rear needed to be matched in the front so canards have been added for the first time.
• The cars are 2 inches wider than last year to match Ferrari, adding wheel offset in the rear and extending the control arms in the front. This increased offset also allows 1/2 inch to be added to the width of each tire.
• Modified engine management software and a redesigned intake manifold mean better fuel efficiency and more power.
• New tire compounds from Michelin will offer better wear than last year's without compromising grip, allowing the Vettes to put in more laps on the track between pit stops.

That's good to hear but the proof will be in the pudding they look good in rack this these last two days. I still have a sneaky feeling that BMW was not showing everything they have maybe I'm wrong and I hope I am will see come Sebring.

Excellent summary of the new car, I saw them in chassis form at P&M back in December, C6GT-005 (#3)and C6GT-006 (#4). I'll be at Sebring to see them race and hopefully win!

I am definitely ready to get this party started for 2012! After hearing about this new car and new rules changes from godug last year at Petit, this season promises to be much more competitive in the ALMS than 2011. The major disadvantages from last year should be gone, but you can bet CR will face adjustments if they blow the world away at Sebring. Nobody's showing their hand just yet. There is definitely some new tech in this car - maybe even some C7 tech (engine/manifold/aero) that we can't really 'see'...?

There are some Sebring test videos including a C6.R pit stop from 2012 posted on YouTube now - from a user named BBVCorvette (?) I believe. Great stuff to help us get through until March!

Sadly, the same can't be said for Team Corvette's pit crews, they were pretty consistently beaten off pit lane by Team BMW, and that needs to change for us to take the title this season. I saw us come in ahead on at least 4 stops, and leave several seconds back, leaving the drivers to regain the advantage they had on the track. We need to do some pit stop homework before the next race, keep the cars up front through the stops.
