| Road America has been BMW's track recently, winning 3 of the past 4 years. This time around with the new Z4, they didn't have the pace needed.
For qualifying, the #93 Viper posted a 2:03.410, a full 8 tenths quicker then the next GT car (#3 Corvette. The next 4 GT cars were only separated by 2 tenths, with Corvette in P2 and P3.
The race started in raining conditions, the first time it had rained all week at Road America. Cars were spinning off, but the Corvettes managed to hang on. They dropped down to P7 & P8 and stayed there for half the race.
A timely caution brought the field back together and the fight was on. All of the GT cars pitted. The Corvette entered the pits P7 & 8 and came out P2 & 3.
With 9 minutes left in the race a caution came out with no time to restart. The pack circled the track and the clock ticked down and word came out that the leading Viper may run out of fuel. The worrisome expressions on the SRT crew's faces had everyone on edge as the pack slowly climbed the long hill to the finish savoring every combustible fume.
SRT ultimately took the finish in P1 and marked their first victory for Viper in over a decade.
Corvette Racing finished P2 (#3) and P3 (#4). Normally this would be a depressing finish, but there were smiles on all of the crew members because Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner are back in the Championship points lead.
