It seems any time there's a race with production cars there's always a Corvette racecar on the grid. The legendary Pikes Peak Hill Climb ran July 19th. And such was the case at this 87th happening.

Chris Sayler from Oklahoma City brought his 1955 Corvette back to the Vintage class and ran the ‘The Race to the Clouds’ [with an ET of 15.25.1].

Since 1916, Pike's Peak has been one of the iconic stops for racers and manufacturers.
GM brands Cadillac and Buick were there for the first.

Corvette has been up the hill year after year after year [OK, sometimes not ALL the way up the hill]. Zora Arkus-Duntov made HIS mark for Chevy performance in 1955. And another year, he took a disguised 1956 Corvette with a V-8 engine to Pike's Peak and set the stock car record of the day.

Hill climbing started with a ‘because-it’s-there’ mentality and the racers are a ‘run-what-you-brung’ group of prideful builders, tinkerers, and 'do-it-yourself / do-it-my-way' individuals. Kind of like the ubiquitous Corvette.
