When your read Jan's comments about Bergmeister "parking" the Porsche on the final turn and couple that with Jorg saying, "He was a little quicker I have to say. I wasn’t trying to figure out where he was gaining time on me. I was trying to stay on track and in front.” it pretty much says it all. I think the ACO and the ALMS want to look at this incedent for ways to encourage fair racing and discourage obvious blocking. The Porsche was at least a 1/2 second slower per lap over the final half hour. Jan destroyed a 14 second lead on his final stint and could not pass Jorg...Jorg wasnt racing Jan as much as he was actively impeding him. Wonderful 100th victory Porsche...

Berg-sheister will do well in NASCAR - when will he and Prosche move out of ALMS - we don't need that kind of driving?

Unbelievable Finish, could someone show the last 5 minutes on video. I hope Mags is OK. Just wait until next year!!!!!!! TAKE NO PRISONERS!!!!!

That was truly some of the best racing seen in ANY motorsports series. It was very obvious when Jan ran down the #45 that the #3 C6R was faster and was being held up. At one point you could hear Dan Binks on the radio telling him to start flashing his lights at him because he was so much slower. Rubbing is racing and Bergmeister shouldn't have been upset over Jan's bump in the final corner. Mashing someone down in to the fence, however, is not racing. ALMS needs to do something about that kind of blocking AND about the 'rule' they apparently made up regarding passing in the paved pit-out area. The distance that Jan put between he and Bergmeister after that pass was further proof that the C6R was faster. TAKE NO PRISONERS heading into 2010 - Sebring won't get here fast enough!

That was such a dirty move by the Porche. It was certainly exciting racing and it's great to see such determination on both racers parts, but the 'Vette was faster and EVERYONE knows it, just look at the lead he put on the Porche when he passed him. Bergmeister's move was out of desperation and should be stripped of the victory. IF IT WASN'T THE FINAL LAP, THEY WOULD HAVE PARKED HIM. There is simply no rule about the #3's pass, they just made it up, the prototypes do it all the time, so where'd that come from? They will do anything they can to not let Corvette win a race. Basically, they're going to have to pull stuff like that on a continuous basis next year because that's the only way they are going to stop Corvette. They are afraid of Corvette, look at how they entered GT2 as a threat after only a few races. Once they get a little more top end out of the Vette motor in the off season, it's all over. I am so glad Vette entered GT2, so they can show makers around the world who makes the best racecar. I used to respect Bergmeister, but be basically admitted to putting him in the wall without directly saying it. You don't intentionally put someone in the wall because they tapped your bumper. BBV will own GT2 next season the same way they owned GT1.

Watched the end of the race on Speed....What the hell is up with that move?!! Driving J. Magnussen's Vette right into the wall....I was so shocked! There is no way they should have allowed the win for Bergmeister. Team Corvette won't forget and neither will the Fans! Take No Prisioners! Keep Rockin Team Corvette!
--- Robert from Ohio on 10.11.09 at 8:23pm
Jorg you were in the WRONG & you know it! Putting Mags in the wall was SO UNCOOL! You should have gotten out of the way instead of doing the "ungentlemen's way" of real racing. Go back to the kiddy pool if you can't race fairly. That was a chicken move & so unnecessary! Mags -Glad your OK!
--- racingon3 from Houston, TX on 10.11.09 at 8:24pm
If Corvette did that to Bergmeister, they would have taken away the victory, plain and simple. If the Porche passed the Vette like Mags did to the Porche, they wouldn't have removed the pass. That's OK, next year, they won't get a chance to wreck us because they'll be behind the #3 and #4.
--- Bryan from Long Island, NY on 10.11.09 at 8:30pm
why does Corvette racing even waste there time. Why dont they just put the street ZR1 brakes an engine in the car and run unclassified like the Dyson car. Its going to work wonders in advertising. I can see it now. Last year you saw what we did with 470hp, this is what we did with the 638hp you can get.

ALMS race officials should be ashamed of themselves. How was that not a deliberate attempt to crash an opponent. Disgusting! Corvette is by far the most popular team in ALMS, and yet they get treated like this. What a joke. Good for you though Porsche, if you can't win, cheat! Bergmeister is a total douchebag! BBV should make up shirts eluding to that fact. What a jerk! If I'm ever close enough to see him, I'm gonna punch him right in the face...then just say, "Well that's racing!"
--- Gary Nolan from Columbus, Ohio on 10.11.09 at 10:38pm
The reason Bergmeister was visibly shaking during the post-race TV interview was simple - he realized the mistake he made, the DIRTY racing and lack of respect for Corvette Racing & Jan Magnussen, and the fact that this will be the LAST championship he will win as an ALMS driver in the GT class. I listened intently as Mr. Fehan delivered a rousing talk to those of us in attendance at the Corral at Road Atlanta. Based on what he said and what we saw in 5 races with a BRAND NEW CAR - Corvette Racing will without a doubt be back with an even stronger desire for 2010 and beyond. Lizard, Ferrari, BMW, Jaguar, etc. - Fear the Jake.
--- DarkKnightC6 from Aiken, SC on 10.11.09 at 10:50pm
ACO can do something; strip the 45 team of the win and hand it to the 3 team! That is just total B.S that nobody has said or done anything a day after the race!!! It's not like Jorg can say that he had to chase the car coming out of the Andretti hairpin! And that he couldn't see Jan or any other bullshit excuse coming to the checkers! If the ACO wants a rivalry and some attention, they're going about it the wrong way! Great piece of driving though Mag's!!!!!! The true 2009 winner at Laguna Seca!
--- Justin from Livermore, CA on 10.11.09 at 12:40pm
First- thank God J Mag is ok.
Second- The earlier pass is where team vette won the race in my mind, it's BS that doesn't count...
Third- after porsche cried and bitched about the injectors, they're really going to pull a douchebag move like that because their cars are still inferior?
Forth- Jake never forgets... game face is already on for next year, and that game face is SKULL!
--- angelthrust from pissed off-ville on 10.12.09 at 4:58am
hope J. Magnussen is ok after the obvious NASCAR move Bergmeister pulled, no gentleman there but he would definetly fit in quite well in that gloryfied fast left turn (NASCAR), the fact is the vette was faster, better and ultimately overall in GT-2 class yesterday. It is quite obvious post race inteview on bergmeister's comments. all you porsche owners watch out, the vettes are in your rearview mirrors ready to take yall out, yall will fear the SKULLS!!!!!!!
--- CARTMAN from unknown on 10.12.09 at 10:25am
Glad to see that Mags is okay. Can't imagine the level of emotions in the CR pits when that stupid stunt was pulled off by the Lizards.
--- SYF from Las Vegas, NV on 10.12.09 at 3:08pm
I wish someone could ecplain to me why Gavin was accessed one minute and twenty five second penalty, and Bergmeister did not get atleast some sort of pemalty. Is IMSA affraid of Porsche?

Dont try to sting the Lizard...bumblebee...
--- Admiral Dan from Land of Lizard on 10.12.09 at 9:49pm
I didn't know FLM had fans in the mental ward?! Thats so sweet of them!! So how many points did you have to earn to gain use of the internet "admiral"? Oh and be sure to make room for Jorg and the boys! We're gonna f*** them up next year!!!
--- Justin from Livermore, CA on 10.12.09 at 12:40pm
The funny thing was, I was just explaining to my wife how these drivers were good sports and drove like gentlemen, and you wouldn't be seeing any of the dirty stunts like they do in NASCAR. Then minutes later, to my shock, I had to witness the senseless destruction of a C6R. Let's face it, if you are driving "defensively" as the race announcer said, you are the slower car. Period. This was clearly a cheap shot... blatantly trying to run an opponent into the wall and wrecking them is what we expect from NASCAR, not the ALMS! Something needs to be done about this - inaction on the part of the ALMS almost condones this sort of act.
--- XGMTech from Florida on 10.13.09 at 11:02am
I think that was a stupid freakin' dirty trick, and why they didn't get penalized is unbelievable... I'd say almost corrupt. Corvette wouldn't have gotten away with it, but then again CR are fair racers. But Porsche has done that before, with Ferrari in Sebring 2007. Also Flying Lizard. Funny they're in racing, when they can't take competition. I think they shoudl be penalized and have several points taken away for that nasty dirty trick!!
Wimps.
