Don't be so fast to point fingers and call people cheaters. Whatever it is, it is very minor otherwise they would have disqualified them already. The ACO has been know to be very nit picky and anal. It's probably nothing the teams did intentionally. Either way, Corvette lost.

Regardless of the rules outcome...Corvette was shunted of the course by the Pug...you know it and all of the slower GT2 cars that reaped the benefit of that know it. Either way the Vettes ruled the on track action and Chris Draper as well as the rest of the world knows it.

Both Corvettes clearly demonstrated superior performance over the rest of the GT2 field, including the winning Porsche; however, it was engine failure that caused the Corvettes to bow out early, not the shunt. Remember that the new 5.5 liter engine is new and will most likely suffer unforeseen problems. The folks at CR have already determined the Le Mans problem and will resolve it for future races. Agree with Chris regarding the ACO issue; these are most likely minor infractions. Furthermore, even if #1 and #2 were to be disqualified, the Corvettes will still remain off the podium.

Yes, it was engine failure...if you remember though, Corvette claimed that it was, in the case of the 64, oil starvation directly related to the crash...yes, they still will not be on podium, but it will be very interesting if the competition is caught breaking the rules. The Vettes are going to have to deal with the fact that their competition views them as the 800 lb gorilla and rationalize any advantage fair or unfair they can gain on Corvette. They will be back and to beat them their competition will have to break rules or shunt them off the course. The sports car world, like it or not, is having to face the fact that the Corvette is the car to beat.

Get over it "Anonymous". Corvette lost. We are all big Corvette fans here and were all disappointing in what happened, but there is no going back. We just need to look to the future and hope for good things to come. Le Mans is over, so drop it.

Chris, I am "over it" as you suggest as far as what happened has already happened and I am looking forward to the next race. I just have to call B.S. when I see it. I don't want to go back and have a do over, and I could care less if the ACO changes the results of the race, but cheating is cheating and reckless driving is reckless driving. That is what I am saying. That is all I am saying. I learned to drive in a Corvette Chris and I am passionate about them...if you don't care so much that they were shunted off the track or that their competition was cheating...so be it. If I want to voice my opinion, I will...get over that.

I just listen to an interview with Doug Fehan and he was asked what caused the engine failures and he stated that they both suffered the same issue, valve failure. He was then asked if the shunt was or had any effect on the 64 cars engine failure and he stated no, none what so ever, it was a valve failure issue in both cars.

It seems to me like Doug is being very PC. How do the original reports of a hole in the dry sump system caused by the shunt play with the final report of engine failure. Uhh, I dunno maybe oil starvation could damage a valve??? All of this is really pointless though. The Vette was way out in front...the PUG shunted it off of the course and the Vette lost an engine. Regardless of the what ifs, I think that the Vette would have continued to run strong and finished in first and I think that the wreck was a contributing cause to the retirement. Maybe all of you are correct, the wreck had nothing to do with the engine failure in mechanical sense. If the 64 was pushing too hard to make up time after the wreck and that is what caused the failure, is that still not directly related to the shunt...It is a pointless argument, because we will never know what might have happened if the Vette continued to turn 4:00 to 4:01 laps on its way to victory. We'll never know, because they were forced off by Peugeot and then pushed really hard afterwards. I suppose you can all keep arguing that it was the new engine, yada yada, but I for one will not rationalize their race as anything less than the PUG shunt and the efforts of Ferrari and Porsche to cheat. Go sell that at another forum.
